OBU Embarks on Classroom Refurbishment Project at Wesley College, Colombo
Project overview, funding requirements, contact and account information
After seeing a marked improvement in discipline at Wesley College and further discussion with the Principal and Senior Staff, the Old Boys Union believe we are ready to kick start the Classroom Refurbishment project.
During the last few months, we have been through many discussions about the type of refurbishment that needs to be carried out. It was decided that any type of refurbishment work must be carried out under the following guidelines:
1. Be of good standard
2. Maintain Uniformity
3. Long Lasting
4. Easy to maintain
We then sourced input from a professional. An old boy of Wesley, Minda Isuru Gamanayake, a Chartered Architect , who has kindly volunteered his time and advice at no cost.
A review of the types, quantities and materials required has been established. As a result, the cost of refurbishment has increased, specifically for the classrooms in the main block (row near the book shop). Special attention is required in re-wiring, with separate circuit breakers. Anyone inspecting the wiring now will notice the potential for electrical hazards and how lucky we have been to get away without a major incident.
There are 6 classrooms identified for refurbishment in December 2014. Renovations to the Highfield block will be delayed due to exams being held there from the 2nd week in December until close to the Christmas holidays. Refurbishment of the Highfield Block is re-scheduled to be completed in April 2015.
